We have changed the original generation of the page, using the classic formula of some PHP scripts querying a MySQL database and generating HTML code.
Now, the PHP scripts query the database and generate XML data, which is transformed into XHTML or HTML by a XSLT stylesheet. This way, the source files are smaller and some of the files will be used by the browser more than once, so they will be cached, and the actual navigation through the page will be faster.
